In the fall of 2025, a large fundraising campaign for the victims of the flood disaster in Cuba took place on social media. This campaign was initiated by a colleague of our member Julian Ansorg. Numerous Berliners responded to the call and contributed with donations in kind.
The colleague traveled to Cuba with his partner to distribute the collected donations directly to the affected population. So many donations were collected that a large portion could not be taken on the trip. This gave rise to the idea of making the remaining donations available to our aid organization to support people with disabilities in northern Benin.
On January 10, 2026, Julian Ansorg and his colleague packed two large parcels for Benin. These contained children's clothing, disinfectant, children's toys, care gloves, medical masks and FFP2 masks, dietary supplements, diapers, and wet wipes, among other items. The two packages, each weighing 10 kg, were then shipped to Benin via DHL. The shipping costs of €124 were covered in full by Julian Ansorg and his colleague.
Special thanks go to our colleague who had the great idea of initiating this fundraising campaign on social media, thereby making a valuable contribution to supporting people in need.
